Our Spring Snow…

We enjoyed a beautiful snowfall yesterday. Our one, and probably only, “good” snow of the season.   The boys had tons of fun throwing snowballs and building a snow man.   Today the weather is in the 50s, so it is all a distant memory.  But, I think it is one that our boys won’t soon forget.  Didn’t you love snow when you were a kid?  It was like magic…truly.  Oh to be young again.  The wonder of it all………..

A fellow blogger, Misti,  helped take the anxiety out of Windows Live Writer, and now I’m loving it!!!  I was definitely living in the dark ages….while waiting forever for my pics to upload.

I’ve been watching a little A.I. and loving these two guys……

We are expecting snow tonight and tomorrow.  What happened to spring?  Hopefully it will make a long lasting appearance again soon.  Meanwhile, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with family and friends.

Twin Decor

Have I mentioned that my twin and I live in the same neighborhood....just one street apart...and that we built identical houses....with the same paint colors both inside and out...and the same painted hardwood floors....and that we trade furniture back and forth? If not, now you know that we take the whole twin thing to a whole new level. Our hubbies will have a special place in heaven...I'm sure. Here is some twin decor for you. I snuck in a few pics of Sis's house this afternoon.

We feel so blessed to report that orders are continuing to come in from our showroom. We received three new orders today from 3 Oklahoma stores. One was one of our favorites here in Tulsa. That is so much fun. Recently, a store in Texas placed an order and asked us if we would create a company sign to hang in their store. I liked the challenge, and this is what I ended up with. Fun...Fun...Fun... I love their company name... "Dirt Road Divas". :()

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Boring or Beautiful ???

The is Deb's living room. You know...the owner of Curious Sofa in Kansas City. :) She recently wrote a column for the Kansas City Star about soft color palettes. "Either you like them or you hate them," she says. I am one of those people who loves them. I seem to throw color into my living room, only to toss it out for something neutral. I love her mantle with the old display of books. It is white, but lightly glazed. Perfect...

This is another example of the color palette I am drawn to. This is a pic taken from the March 2008 issue of Veranda magazine. Nora, at Faithful Days, also posted about this issue. Wow!! I think we have a lot in common. Again, I love the old books on the mantle.

Well, here is my little mantle. I showed you this last week. Not bad..., but I think I need a little glaze and several more old books. Our local flea market is calling my name. Don't you love a good excuse to go "junkin". Me too!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with family and friends.

Spring Break Bliss

We were blessed with weather in the 80s yesterday, so mom and I took the kids to a nearby park. We all had a lot of fun...all in the spirit of spring. I am so ready.

For the Love of Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I hope everyone is enjoying "Green Day". Green is one of the colors that rarely makes it into my closet as a wardrobe choice. However, as I was looking through Google pictures, I thought green really is a happy color. It is all around us, and really brightens up our world.

On the Glitter & Bliss front, orders have started to come in from the Dallas showroom. We are very excited!!! My sis has strep (yes the kind that knocks you on your butt for at least 48 hours) so I have been busy..busy..busy. Considering it is spring break this week, I have also been focused on my little boys. Yesterday we enjoyed wonderful weather, while jumping on our trampoline. The boys also played in the dirt, while I worked on crystals on the back porch. We do what we have to do... :)

Happy Tuesday to All.......

Happy Birthday Fun!!!

Happy BD to my wonderful friend Susan. Sue is one of those friends who likes to get me and sis a little out of our elements...but in a great way. She is so much fun. We have been friends since our Univ. of Okla. days. Speaking of getting us out of our element, last year for her 40th BD, she flew us to New York City to celebrate. We had so much fun!!!

We went to this Broadway show... It was awesome!!

Last night we stayed local, but still ventured out of our element. We went to a restaurant in the dowtown Tulsa area called Vintage 1740. All the furniture was vintage, fixtures, dinnerware and glasses... It was like you completely stepped into another time. It was so much fun!!

Me taking a pic of the old fixture and decor....

Happy Birthday Sue!! I hope this year is your absolute best year ever!!!

My Spring Mantle

I have been doing a little spring cleaning and decorating today. I decided to add white tulips in rusted iron pots w/ blue paint. I also painted old books with my favorite color, and tied twine around them. Finally, I placed the silhouettes of my boys I made around Christmas time on each side. Perfect!!!

I made this little wreath to hang on my mirror a couple of weeks ago. The flowers are wired on, German glass glittered, then placed on top of burlap. I really like the added touch in brings especially with the crystal.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!!!

An Award and 10 Things About Me....

I received this wonderful award from Misti at Studio M Designs. If you have not visited her blog, run over there and check it out. She features wonderful shops/places, and she is a very talented artist/decorator with wonderful ideas. Thank you so much for thinking of me!! OK... I think the rules are to list 10 things about myself....so here goes.

1. I was working in downtown Okla. City when the Murrah Building was bombed. I will never forget the noise and all the confusion. My large...heavy...file cabinet rocked back and forth in reaction to the blast. I was right in the heart of everything. It was such a heartbreaking day. A precious lady, who worked across the hall from me, lost her son. He was making a delivery at the daycare center inside.

2. This is so going to "date" me, but I love Barry Manilow. Not so much his new stuff, but all his oldies like..."Mandy", "Tyring to Get the Feeling", "Ships", "Could it Be Magic", and "Time in New England". I saw him in concert, here in Tulsa, about 8 years ago. My Sis, BFF, and I had 3rd row seats. He was amazing!!! It was a great time!!

3. I love coffee!!! Instead of flowers, I ask my hubby to just surprise me with a Starbucks-Vanilla Latte w/ Whip.... Yum O

4. I have a Master's Degree in Special Education. Before having my two little ones, I worked in this field for many years.

5. I have driven, by myself, from Providence, Rhode Island to downtown New York City, to shop. I am from a very small town in Oklahoma, so this was huge for me. I was proud of myself for doing it, but I would not do it again. :)

6. I enjoy cooking. Barefoot Contessa is my favorite Food Network show. I watch Ina in amazement as she fixes wonderful dishes and features her lovely Long Island home. I have all of her cookbooks, and I love fixing her recipes. She is so talented!!!

7. I am in total love with my husband. He is the absolute most wonderful man I have ever known, next to my late father. We have been through a lot in our (almost) 7 years of marriage. The loss of a job, a baby, and my Dad to cancer. He has been steadfast through it all.

8. Becoming a mother has been the most amazing experience I have ever had. As I know all you moms out there can relate, it is a love like none other. Motherhood makes me feel somewhat vulnerable at times....knowing that life began when they came into my world.

9. I love taking really "HOT" baths. I love taking my favorite decor magazines in the tub with me. Perfect........

10. I love to create, and feel so blessed to be living my dream of working from home. God is so good......

Well, now you know a little more about me. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday. I will be forwarding this award on to others, but I need to compile my list. Stay tuned.....
